For the 2014 Poker Run and Hare Scramble, competitors may ride either the Trail Rider class for 1 hour or the Open Bike class for 2 hours.
A correction factor will be used to normalize the scores depending on the class run. This was determined based on last years results from the two classes.

For the Trail Rider class, you will get 4 points per lap, maximum of 50 points.

For the Open Bike Hare Scramble class, you will get 3 points per lap, maximum of 50.

Is this because you can ride the open class for two hours ?

Yes, I looked at the data from last years events, and that points structure will normalize the laps between the Trail Rider class and the Hare Scrambles class. More laps are possible in the Hare scramble class because it is twice as long, but it is much more difficult.
