RE: All-purpose ride gear?
Kory,
I agree with everyone else here that it's very difficult to find gear that works well for both on and off road. The latest trends toward adventure touring have resulted in some gear that would be the closest to that. But, I personally have probably 3 different setups for street and for offroad because every day is different. So, to replace all that gear with one set that worked well would be impossible. On the street side, I am really impressed with the Firstgear products. I've seen their new rainier jacket in person and was impressed with the technology. Also, the way they have improved the heated gear to make it a good layer choice even when not plugged in really seems like it would work well. I have been impressed with the performance of my Kenya jacket this last season. Once you ride off-road with off-road boots, you won't want to use anything else. But, just like the rest of the gear, if you cheap out, you will not be happy til you buy the good stuff, so just bite the bullet right away. Fun Sports can help you with most brands, and i'd even give you the friendly discount. My road rallies reflect my life..........100 miles an hour, in the wrong direction |
