We have once again reserved the Community Center is North Sioux City, SD this year. That is the same location as last year. The date will be Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 (Labor Day Weekend). This year's theme will be something about curves, still working on a snazzy title. If you can't read between the lines, our intention will be to get riders to ride as many curvy roads as possible. We hope you will have a better appreciation for the region's topography before the day is finished.

This will be a 12 hours event.

This will most likely be the last year the Buffalo Run starts and ends in the Sioux City Loess Hills Area.

We are getting close and the weather is looking pretty good.

Here is the schedule:
September 2nd - GPS bonus locations, addresses, & most of the points will be emailed to riders. Don't expect a lot more changes later.
September 3rd 6:30pm - Get together at Half Moon Bar & Grill (optional - printed bonus list which was mailed out will be available).
September 4th 6:30am - Check-in & Breakfast.
September 4th 7:00am - Rider's Meeting & Complete Bonuses Packs (Req'd).
September 4th 7:30am - Departure.
September 4th 6:30pm - Approx. Return Time.
September 4th 6:30 - 8:30pm Meal & Awards Banquet.

Saturday evening at 6:30 we are meeting at the Half Moon. This meeting is not required. The Moon has good sandwiches, burgers and fries available. It's located at 714 S Lewis Blvd, Sioux City, IA. It is a casual setting. The location coords are 42.483733, -96.380059 or N 42 29.024, W 96 22.804 (https://goo.gl/maps/T18AyxMcUpu)

Sunday morning we will have bananas, muffins, coffee and juice available.

We will have Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota paper maps available. You won't need anything else unless you go crazy or try to follow Steve Martin. I strongly recommend using paper maps this year if you plan to be efficient.

Sunday evening banquet is now: Sneeky's Chicken, Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, non-alcohol beverages and desert. Everything but the chicken and maybe the desert will be home-made. You can bring beer and other beverages, but we are not permitted to drink alcohol outside the building.

Later Sunday evening Kory's family is having a party with a live band, and riders and volunteers are invited. We will provide rides too and from Kory's as requested. There is a free-will donation to help a local cancer patient.

The t-shirts this year are very cool (thanks Alex). Any leftovers will be available for $10.

If you have any questions, post them on the discussion thread.

We have 12 or so people signed up (not all on RideMaster), we would like to see a few more. If you want a t-shirt, please signup before August 22. I'll have a few extras, but I can't guarantee one for you after that date. If you want to come and help, let me know and send me your shirt size.

There are going to be a LOT of cool bonuses this year. The theme is "Let's all go to the movies". You may also want to sign up for the Grand Tour if your interested - there "might" be some related mini-bonuses.

Although the term pavement might be questionable in some places, all the bonuses are on paved roads this year.

I'm working on a reserved meeting spot for Saturday night. Tentatively it looks like the back room of the Half Moon Bar and Grill (that just a mile or so south from the Harley and BMW dealerships for all you hard heads and engineering nerds, respectfully).

We have someone baking treats for us Sunday morning. We will also have bananas, coffee and juice.

The Sunday evening banquet meal thus far is Sneeky's chicken, Orig Randy and my baked beans, my coleslaw, baked potato, and desert.

How many rally's have official campgrounds? I don't know but we unofficially do. Campers and Cabineers are heading to the KOA in North Sioux City. There is a deck after party at Kory's Victorian, we will provide some kind of transport to/from if you want it.

Don't forget to sign up on-time. I may not have a pink cap this year, but I will come up with something equally horrible for any photo bonuses if you sign up late.

I'm getting pretty excited and the rally - there are so many cool bonuses. Alex has been working on the t-shirt design and he came up with a pretty cool idea.

The community campground in South Sioux City, NE is full. Several folks are staying at the KOA near North Sioux City. From the event page:

The official camping area has been changed (Scenic Park is full) to the KOA in North Sioux City, SD. The KOA is on the same frontage road as the starting point. As of August 4th they also had camping cabins and a deluxe cabin available. They allow pets. The street location is 675 Streeter Drive, North Sioux City, SD - Phone 800-562-5439 or 605-232-4519. Stone State Park near Sioux City, Iowa is also close to North Sioux City - (712) 255-4698. There is also the Merrill Iowa Community Park.

The following hotels are within a block or so and easy walking distance of the start/end point. We have not be able to strike a deal for a group rate. There are a lot of construction projects in the area, and some hotels are quite busy.

Day's Inn, 1311 River Dr., North Sioux City, SD, (605) 232-3366.
Red Carpet Inn & Suites, 110 Sodrac Dr., North Sioux City, SD, (605) 232-9600
Super 8, 1300 River Dr., North Sioux City, SD, (605) 252-4716
Hampton Inn, 101 S. Sodrac Dr., North Sioux City, SD, (605) 252-9739

Camping: The official camping area will be City of South Sioux City, NE Scenic Park Campground, which is next to the Missouri River and near I-29 (402) 494-7531 (also have cabins). There is also the Merrill Iowa Community Park and a KOA in North Sioux City, SD (800) 562-5439. The Stone State Park near Sioux City, Iowa is also very near North Sioux City (712) 255-4698.

Saturday Evening Meal: Working on detail still. Expect something at a park. Also probably a pretty simple meal.

Sunday Breakfast: We will provide juice, coffee, donuts and fruit.

Sunday Banquet: Working on detail still.

Sioux City Construction Warning: Same as 2013... I-29 construction continues. Be cautious of speed cameras and stop light camera at major intersections (SD residents now get a free pass though... unless they are riding an Iowa's motorcycle).
