Bonzai 2008
Information and
details
The Bonzai is ready to run
for 2008. There are a few differences
this year, here are the highlights:
1) We’ll be running Saturday events from the Richland
Community Building 600 W. Seminary in
2) Saturday events will include a low key, non
competitive, Poker Run. (see the Schedule of Events)
3) Sunday events will be headquartered at the
What a well prepared rally participant would want to
have along.
1) A motorcycle prepared to cover up to 800 miles
between the Poker Run and the Bonzai. Detailed road maps of
2) Pens, markers, highlighters, ziplock
bags to keep photos and receipts dry.
3) An instant camera (for example the Polaroid 600
series). As is normally the case in
route sheets I have written, there is a fairly high concentration of the
photo bonus. You should probably be
prepared to take up to 20 pictures.
I will have a handful of cameras
to loan to those that are not able to find one.
I will also have a small amount of film available for sale at my cost.
4) You may find that a sense of adventure and a sense of
humor will be as important as anything you bring with you in terms of having a
successful and fun rally experience. I
believe you will receive a rally towel with your rider number which will need
to appear in your photo bonus. Bungies, magnets or tape might be helpful in securing your
towel for a photo. You’ve certainly
heard or read it before: “Successfully
competing in this road rally will have more to do with ‘reading comprehension’
than it will with muscling out mile after mile. The object is to make thinking and planning,
pay off”.
You should be prepared to choose which class you’d
like to participate in at registration.
Classes are as follows:
Two Up -- As stated riders with a passenger
Novice -- Those new to Rally Riding
Experienced -- Riders with some rally experience, who have not
previously won a GLMC class or event.
Expert -- Riders who have won GLMC events or classes in the
past, known high mileage riders, Iron Butt Rally or Butt Lite
participants.
Luddite -- Those riders wishing to participate without the
aid of computer aided routing, or GPS.
